I recently agreed to cook a lunch for my work colleagues. As I had around 40 people to cook for, a good South African Chicken Breyani seemed to be the obvious choice.
I bought 2 packs of Allifa's Breyani Spices, as well as some Packo Pickles and Mrs. Balls Blatjang Chutney from SATOOZ. In addition to this I bought some chicken, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, onions, yoghurt and a few other sambal ingredients from my local grocery store. All up, I managed to spend only $60.00 - that's only $1.50 a head... and the price of one take-out dinner! What a bargain! I cooked the Breyani overnight in 3 slow cookers, and delivered it piping hot to the office just before lunch time the next day.
My colleagues loved the Breyani, and everyone was asking me for the recipe... Should I have told them how EASY my secret South African recipe was? Hmmm... still deciding!
